Preview your flow trigger
Let's walk through how to preview your flow trigger to ensure the automation is working properly, so you can send with confidence.
Action steps
Test a flow message
To preview an individual flow message, navigate into the email or text message you’d like to review. A modal will appear to the right displaying a preview of the message.
For emails specifically, you can scroll to view the actual email template; then, click the dropdown menu and then Preview email to do a deeper review of the email, as shown below.
Test your flow trigger
Test your flow trigger to ensure that you target the right people at the right time. Click into your trigger and select Preview.
A preview shows you the last 10 people who would enter your flow. Use this as a sign, noting whether or not the right people qualify for the flow. If you spot an error, now’s the time to correct it.
Set your flow live
Congrats, you're ready to send. In that case, set your flow to Live.
To toggle on all messages at once, click Update Status in the top right corner of your screen, and select Live, as shown below. Alternatively, you can schedule your flow to begin sending at a specified day and time.
Don’t forget to add past profiles. Doing so will add recipients to your flow retroactively; however, profiles won't receive the same message more than once.
Understand skipped messages
Are you seeing that recipients are being skipped from receiving your flow? Don't panic, this is often to be expected.
A skip indicates that someone entered your flow, but did not proceed further down the flow pathway. This is often because they no longer qualify due to flow filters, or because Smart Sending was enabled and they've already received a message from you recently.
While a high number of skips can sometimes indicate a problem with your flow setup, it is not always the case. For example, your abandoned cart flow should have a high number of skips. Why? Because anyone who starts a checkout will enter your flow. Then, once they place an order, they'll be skipped from receiving further messages due to the flow filter: Placed Order 0 times since starting this flow. In that case, skipped messages signal that your flow works properly and that only those who actually abandoned their cart have received flow messages.
