    Use preview & testing options to verify your content before sending

    Take advantage of the preview and testing functionalities to make sure that subscribers will receive your message the way you intended before you hit the official send button.

    Use sending features to deliver messages at the optimal time

    When sending campaigns, there are a few different sending features you can use to make sure your email is landing in the inbox at a time most likely to drive engagement.

    • Smart sending allows you to avoid over-sending to recipients, so they don’t get overwhelmed and unsubscribe from your email marketing. When smart sending is enabled, your campaign won't send to any profiles who have received another email from you in the last 16 hours, or within another specific time window you select.
    • Fix send time and gradual send over several hours are 2 options you can use for scheduling your campaign send in advance. Fix send time allows you to select 1 time for your email to deliver to recipients in their given time zone (for example, send at 10am to all recipients in their specific time zone). Gradual send over several hours allows you to spread out your email sends across your audience over a set of time.

    Interested in a more advanced sending technique? Discover the optimal time to send your campaigns by enabling a smart send time test. Note: this functionality is only available for customers with a campaign audience of 12,000 or higher.

    Use the campaign calendar to organize your content cadence

    As you begin to send campaigns, it’s important to message your recipients effectively to drive engagement. You don’t want to send too infrequently that your subscribers forget about your brand, but you also don’t want to send too often or your subscribers may get overwhelmed and unsubscribe from your marketing.

    Use the campaign calendar in Klaviyo to easily see when you’re sending campaigns, so you can make sure you’re sending at an appropriate and consistent cadence. To get to the campaign calendar feature, on the left-hand navigation menu click on Campaigns > Calendar.

    You can easily filter your calendar views by day, week, or month to get a holistic view of your marketing schedule.

    Copywriting is an essential skill for email marketing performance. If your email subject line isn’t engaging, your subscribers aren’t likely to click on your email.     You can also sort by channel or campaign goal to quickly find the right starting point for your next send. Whether you're launching a new product or announcing a flash sale, the library helps you move faster without sacrificing quality.

    Use AI to create a segment in campaigns

    Looking to target the right audience without building a segment from scratch? Klaviyo’s AI-powered segment builder makes it simple, all within the campaign builder.

    When you're setting up a campaign, just describe the type of audience you want to reach in plain language. Klaviyo will generate a recommended segment based on what you provide.

    You can review the segment, make changes, or generate a new 1 if needed. It’s a fast and intuitive way to reach the right people, whether you're focusing on loyal customers, recent buyers, or high-intent visitors.

    Best practices:

    • Be clear and specific in your prompt (e.g., “customers who purchased in the last 30 days but didn’t open the last email”).
    • Review the generated segment before sending to make sure it aligns with your goal.
    • Use AI-generated segments as a starting point, and refine them to suit your message or promotion.
